AW Plankholders

The AW Plankholders

The AW Plankholders blazed the trail for all of us today. They were already operating the sensors or performing SAR missions, but the Navy realized they needed operator specialists to ensure a greater degree of mission success. The Navy converted 1252 Active and Reserve Duty Sailors AWCSs, AWCs, AW1s, AW2s, AW3s and strikers, 150 Air TARs, and 566 Inactive Reservists AWCs, AW1s, AW2s, AW3s and strikers. The names were hand-typed from the BUPERS Notice. Typos are inevitable; please let me know if something has to be changed.
Additionally, the plankholders assigned NECs are reflected. A 1 or 2 in the third character is a fixed-wing acoustic operator, a 5 is a fixed-wing non-acoustic operator, and a 8 is a helicopter crewman. A 1 in the fourth character indicates the individual is fully qualified whereas a 9 indicates training is required.

If you are a plankholder and would like your email linked to the directory, let me know. Additionally, if any of the plankholders would like to include a bio update or pictures of yourself (before AND AFTER preferred), let me know. If you don't have a scanner, just contact me and I'll give you my home address. Mail the picture(s) to me and I'll scan and then mail them back to you.

If you or one (or more) of these plankholders was your "sea daddy" or was someone you knew... here is your chance to offer your positive comments on what each of these plankholders meant to your career. I will be linking your comments to pages similar to the Virtual AW Memorial. Each plankholders that has a comment or a picture will be linked.
